Terminal Circus has presented acts and shows in many challenging and unusual spaces. The dimensions and requirements offer minimum staging for standard acts.  Terminal Circus can discuss and agree upon adapted spaces for unique venues with clients. If discussions are not initiated by the client the assumption will be made that the following performance area requirements will be provided.

Performance Outline:

Contemporary, choreographed circus acts which may include acrobatics, dance, multiple props, costumes, makeup, and pre-recorded music.

Solo  / Duo Acts:  4-7 minutes

Character Work:  As desired by client

*Aerial Acts require secure rigging point.

*Fire Acts include multiple props with live flame.

Performance Area:

Size: Width 12 feet, Depth 8 feet

Stage: Stages must be level and free of obstacles. If the stage is pieced together all gaps must be securely covered with high quality duct tape.

Stage Surface: Ground acts can be performed on many surfaces. Cement patios, wooden floors and well maintained, level lawns are all performance adaptable. Venues with slick or wet tile and linoleum may require additional surface augmentation. In such cases a cut pile carpet (provided by client) must be firmly secured to the surface floor.

Technical Run Through

Depending on the nature of the event and acts purchased a technical run through may be required.  If so, all technicians should be present, (sound, light, stage manager).  Please allow a 2 hour time frame for details.

Lighting

To be determined according to atmosphere and acts purchased.

Sound/PA:

Client must provide a PA system with the ability to broadcast clear, quality sound for both performers and audience members. A sound technician must be present to operate the system throughout the performance.

Backstage:

A dressing/warm-up area is required. This area should be private/semi-private with a mirror, table, chairs, clothing rack and adequate space to stretch and warm up. Drinking water must be available in this area.

Accommodations/Food:

Hotels should be a 3* minimum. Drinking water must be provided. If required to be at the event for more than 4 hours a healthy meal must be provided.

Fire Shows:

During fire performances very small amounts of fuel are dripped on to the stage.  Special planning, to reduce the possibility of a performer slipping may be required. In some extreme cases a non-flammable, cut pile carpet, (provided by client), may be firmly secured to the performance floor surface.

Fueling Area:

Prior to the performance a fueling area must be provided.  This space should be large enough to accommodate the dipping and bagging of props. An outdoor area with adequate distance from the staging area is ideal, but tarps, (supplied by client), can be used for indoor venues with no outdoor space available.

Fire extinguishers:

Extinguishers suitable for liquid fuel fires, and operators, (provided by client), should be located in close proximity to the performance area.

Fire alarms/ smoke detectors/ sprinkler systems:

Smoke based systems must be shut off for the duration of the show. Heat based systems are not affected.

Fuel:

Fuel cannot be transported on airplanes by Terminal Circus. Client must provide fuel locally for venues requiring air travel. Please contact us for fuel specifications.

Backstage Props Preset:

Fueled props require a 6ft x 6ft staging area. This area should be within a short distance of the performance area, (within 8ft), to allow for quick prop exchanges. Preferably this area should be out of the view of the audience.
